Accra
DAY 1

ARRIVE IN ACCRA (WELCOME - AKWAABA)
Arrive in Accra, Ghana. You will be met at the airport by Landtours representatives who will assist you with your transfer from the airport to you hotel. .Check in time: 3pm and after. Early check in is not included. Participate in an orientation session. Overnight in Accra at the Pelican Hotel Accra
DAY 2

ACCRA CITY TOUR – TRADITIONAL MARKETS
After breakfast, depart for a sightseeing tour of Accra, the Capital of Ghana. Experience the city’s highlights during this Accra orientation. The capital of Ghana since 1877, Accra is also the capital of the Greater Accra Region. In addition, it’s the country’s most populous city. Travel through the administrative and economic districts of Accra. Also, see the W.E.B. Du Bois Center for Pan African Culture and the
Independence/Black Star Square. Learn about important events in Ghana’s history and the country’s first president who helped lead Ghana to independence. Continue your tour to The Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, dedicated to the legacy of Ghana's first President, Kwame Nkrumah, and his role in African independence. The tour includes visits to Nkrumah's mausoleum, a museum showcasing his life, his personal residence, the eternal Flame of African
Liberation, and beautifully landscaped gardens. Learn about Nkrumah's early life, political career, and Pan-African vision. End the day’s tour at the Arts Center, where participants can sharpen their bargaining skills to shop for goods from Ghana and West Africa in an open-air market. Then, you will immerse yourself in the rhythms of Ghana with a drumming and dancing workshop at the Arts Centre. Led by skilled local instructors, this interactive experience introduces you to the heartbeat of Ghanaian culture through traditional music and movement. Participate in a drumming session, where you'll learn the basics of playing iconic instruments like the djembe and kpanlogo drums. Feel the energy as you're guided through rhythmic patterns that form the foundation of Ghanaian music.
Transfer back to the hotel after the experience.

ACCRA - KUMASI
After breakfast, check out of your hotel and depart for Kumasi. Upon arrival, check into your hotel and the remainder of the day is at leisure.

DAY 4

ADANWOMASE NAMING CEREMONY
After breakfast, you will pay a courtesy call on the village chief and elders. Guests are received by family members and elders of the village, as traditional drumming and dancing softly sets the atmosphere.
Participants are then seated according to custom. The group will participate in a naming ceremony of recognition, where a Ghanaian name is given to participants, and a gift presented as part of celebrating a new identity as a Ghanaian and a member of the local community. Return to the hotel after the visit and the remainder of the day is at leisure. Overnight at Lancaster Kumasi Hotel.

DAY 5

KUMASI –ASSIN MANSO – ELMINA After breakfast, check out of your hotel and visit the Manhyia Palace Museum to obtain firsthand information on the legacies of the Ashanti kingdom. A regal history that dates back to 1700 is told with relics and artefacts. Then stop at the former slave in Assin Manso. Visit the site of “Donkor Nsuo”, the former Slave River and market, as well as the final transit point for a large number of enslaved Africans. This is the final resting place for two ancestors whose mortal remains were returned from the USA and Jamaica and re-interred there. Transfer to the hotel on arrival in Elmina.

DAY 6

CANOPY WALK WAY AND KAKUM RAIN FOREST – SLAVE DUNGEON EXPERIENCE (ELMINA CASTLE)
After breakfast, visit Kakum National Park, one of West Africa’s surviving tropical rain forests. Choose between a 2 km nature walk through the rain forest to discover the wide variety of exotic flora and fauna species and the medicinal values they offer or take a walk on the canopy walkway hanging 40 meters above the forest ground. After lunch (at own expense), visit Elmina Castle, also known as St. George’s Castle, which was built by the Portuguese in 1482. Here, learn about the relationship between the western slave traders and the African tribes that participated in the trans-Atlantic slave trade. You will witness the dark and stuffy
dungeons local people were forced to endure before being sent on a long and perilous passage across the Atlantic. To see the truth of these conditions in person is a powerful reminder of the inhumanity of the slave trade.
Return to the hotel after the tour and the remainder of the day is at leisure. Overnight at AnoMansa Beach Hotel.


Accra
DAY 7

HEAD WRAPPING AT GLOBAL MAMAS; DAY AT LEISURE After breakfast, visit Global Mamas and join Auntie Nana in her salon to learn the cultural history and technical wonders of African head wrapping. Head wrapping has been a part of African culture for centuries and are worn by men and women with pride. You will master an array of Gele head wrapping Styles and learn how headwraps identify a woman’s religion, social status and celebrations. Apply your skills to show reverence at your next African event by attending with a perfectly fashioned head wrap. Return back to the hotel after the experience and the remainder of the day is at leisure.

DAY 8

After breakfast, check out of your hotel and depart for the Cape Coast Castle. SLAVE DUNGEON EXPERIENCE (CAPE COAST CASTLE) – ACCRA
The Cape Coast Castle was built by the Swedes in 1653 and was later taken over by the British. Here, you would learn about the relationship between the western slave traders and the African tribes that made the trans-Atlantic slave trade possible. It is an opportunity to be up and close with history – to stand in the dark and stuffy dungeons, imagining the experience and conditions that millions of Africans endured. This castle also houses the West African Historical Museum. You will have some free time to explore on your own or to shop at the shops onsite. Then depart for Accra. On arrival in Accra, transfer to the hotel for check in. This evening, enjoy a Farewell Dinner at the hotel.

DAY 9

FAREWELL/DEPARTURE
After breakfast, check out and transfer to the Accra airport for your flight.
